Veteran's Group

Our group was formed in 2005 following our annual Memorial Day Sunday salute to military members active, separated and retired. Colonel Bill Herrin (retired air force) organized 46 St. Giles members, and most who were not impacted by age or illness began meeting monthly at a local restaurant in August of 2005.

We decided originally not to have a “mission”, but to meet socially to better get to know each other. Having said that, some of our members visit the McGuire Veterans Hospital to let present-day members know that they are appreciated as we were in other conflicts and wars. Our members include veterans of WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm and present day conflicts. Some St. Giles members serve in uniform today.

We are all proud to have served our country. We thank God for opportunities to have helped preserve peace. For those who did not return home, we salute them for their sacrifice and offer remembrances “To Those Who Have Gone Before.” If you’d like to know more about our ministry, please contact Billy Herrin at stampede-29@comcast.net or 740-4732.
