What is Alpha About? It’s for:
Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith. Adults of all ages are welcome.
Learning and laughter. It is possible to learn about the Christian faith and have fun at the same time.
People meeting together. An opportunity to get to know others and to make new friends.
Helping one another. The small groups give you a chance to discuss issues raised during the talks.
Ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is seen as too simple or too hostile.
Who is Alpha For? Everyone! It’s especially geared to:
o People interested in investigating Christianity
o Newcomers to the church
o New Christians
o Couples preparing for marriage
o Christians who want to brush up on the basics
What Happens at Alpha? There is a series of talks on topics such as:
o Who is Jesus?
o Why Did Jesus Die?
o Why and How Do I Pray?
o Why and How Should I Read the Bible?
o Who is the Holy Spirit?
o How Can I Resist Evil?
o Why and How Should I Tell Others?
o Does God Heal Today?
o What About the Church?
After each talk, there is a small group time for everyone to discuss any questions or issues they have. This gives an opportunity to get to know each other and to learn together.
When and Where?
The Alpha course meets from 5:45 - 7:45 pm every week for ten weeks, beginning September 16th, at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, corner of Grove Ave. & Tuckahoe Blvd. Come to the Church House entrance that faces Tuckahoe.
How Much Does it Cost?
The course is offered free of charge, as is child care. The only cost involved is for dinner each week: $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for children, $15 family maximum. Dinner reservations must be made before 4 pm each Monday.
If you prefer to bring your own dinner, that's fine. Coffee, tea, and water will be available at no charge.
